Cheverly Day 2011

Last Updated on Monday, 23 May 2011 23:15 Written by Administrator Thursday, 08 October 2009 07:35

Thank you to all who participated in Cheverly Day 2011.

The day wouldn't have been possible without the support of the entire Cheverly's Public Works department and Juan Torres and Trudy Stanek.  Their work makes all of the Cheverly Day's logistics possible.  From fireworks permits to bleacher placement, table distribution, Park & Planning coordination and park cleanliness.  The public works department takes care of it all!

Thank you to the Cheverly Police Department, Chief Robshaw and Sergeant Lamb for their work in coordinating the road closures and keeping the entire day's events safe for all of us.

Thank you to David Warrington for bringing the new Laser Tag activity and securing the fireworks contract as well as working toward the new town park stage.

A special thanks to all of the town organizations that participated with tables and activities as well as each of the silent volunteers who lend their time and effort up to and during the day.  Your support makes our community strong and reinforces the true spirit of Cheverly Day.  Thank You.

It has been a pleasure working with so many capable individuals for Cheverly Day.  The Cheverly Day committee has been extremely lucky to have a solidly dedicated team of individuals who can make the event possible.

Pat Nelson who organizes, transports, builds, procures prizes and referees the Cheverly Day Midway.  This event is the center focus of Cheverly Day for the younger crowd, and without which many younger kids would have no activities for the day.

David Thorpe organizes the entire main stage performers and groups including the day-of support for helping Cheverly Emeritus Resident Bruce Mitchell with the sound system for the main stage.  Bruce has tirelessly provided Cheverly Day with sound on the main stage, including the dreary work this year of setting up in the rain and packing up in a thunderstorm.

Mayor Mike Callahan for organizing and recruiting the participants for the 80th Anniversary Cheverly Day Parade.

My wife, Kristy D'Angelo for handling all of the finances as the Cheverly Day treasurer.

Nick D'Angelo
